KADAIKUTTI SINGHAM MOVIE REVIEW

Surya’s 2D entertainment produces this movie that is directed by Pandiarajan and has Karthik playing the lead role. Surya also plays a guest role in this film.

Pandiarajan makes a rural masala that is high on melodrama, commercial elements and messages that are peppered throughout the film. Constantly on the run KS hardly takes a breather with an overdose of “action” on the screen that is neither innovative nor surprising. There are no disbeliefs in this 2.5 hour movie that is a concoction of many rural fares that the Tamil audience is used to. The over the top drama can get annoying at times but at the same time manages to overcome the tediousness with some comic relief in the form of Suri. The “messages” gets punched into the screenplay driving the emotions an extra yard.

Karthi in this larger than life role does complete justice and should do a great deal in enhancing his lost status at the box office. The role is tailor made for him. Suri is bearable unlike his earlier movies. Sathyaraj too after a long time looks quite a natural in his role. Priya Bhavani, Arthana and a host of senior actors and actresses do a commendable job making this exaggerated drama a convincing fare to watch.

Velraj the cinematographer does a good job capturing the outdoor locales very well. Imam is OK in the music department though a better effort could have helped the film a lot more. Ruben with his editing manages to keep the film on its toes. Dialogues are good while direction by Pandiarajan makes its mark.

KADAIKUTTI SINGHAM is a movie that you can take your family to, a hyperbolic drama that some may find it endearing or at times frustrating and yet you hardly miss a thing on screen.
