It was celebration time for fans of actor Rajinikanth, as his latest movie ‘Kabali’ finally hit the screens early this morning.
Considered as the most anticipated film of the year, the film had a mammoth opening all over the world. In Chennai, theatres resembled carnivals with activities like poojas and fireworks done to celebrate the release of the movie. It may also be noted that tickets to all shows in city theatres are completely booked for a week and beyond.
The response too from the first few shows has been positive, and it is expected that the film will have strong word-of-mouth.
With an opening of this kind, trade analysts expect the Pa Ranjith directorial to collect over Rs 100 crore at the box office, in a span of 2-3 days. More records are likely to be shattered as the film has released in over 5000 screens.
This is apart from the over Rs 250 crore business the film has already made prior to its release.
Starring actors like Radhika Apte and Dhanshika in the lead roles, the film is produced by S Thanu and has music by Santosh Narayanan.
