Other associations are looking at the success of TNPL and how they can emulate the same, says N Srinivasan

N Srinivasan, former ICC chairman, spoke exclusively to the India Cements Ltd TNPL website during Qualifier 2 between the Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings at the India Cements Ltd Ground, Sankarnagar, on Friday. Excerpts:

What is your take on the second season of the India Cements Ltd TNPL?
This crowd itself is a testament to the enthusiasm. The tournament has grown from strength to strength. It is much better this year and is being received so well. More people are attending the matches and that is very good.

How do you see the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) as a model to other associations?
The TNCA is one of the older associations. Chennai, for example, is a permanent Test centre and TNCA is regarded as one of the better administrative associations with a lot of structured cricket. Other associations are looking to the success of this league and how they can emulate the same.

Three players made it to the Indian Premier League from the TNPL last year. How many are you expecting this year?
That depends because it is a highly competitive tournament. The fact that three cricketers went to the IPL last year is great.

Chennai Super Kings is back. Your thoughts?
As an enthusiast, I am delighted.

What are the plans for TNPL Season 3?
More grounds and possibly more diversified players.

Any message to TNPL fans?
Keep coming!
