Sakka Podu Podu Raja Movie Review

SPPR is VTV Ganesh’s production venture for Santhanam back as hero after a break. Sethuraman writes and directs this film.

The story of SPPR is as regressive as you can get and executed intentionally in a loud and garish fashion throwing logic and caution to the wind. It is an arrogant approach to please, what the makers believe to be a section of audience that would be happy with the product. There is nothing new in neither the screenplay nor the script and déjà vu sounds more cliché than the scenes.

You can watch someone for 30 minutes in 150 minutes but not the entire 150 minutes. Santanam as Santa has fewer expressions than the real Santa. He walks and talks like he is rehearsing his role and his mannequin body language, coloured shoes, fancy clothes and delicate makeup makes him look sillier than the character actually is. Vaibhavi Shandilya is the heroine who is the more “Expressive” of the two for reasons known does her job without inhibitions. Others form part of the “loud” gang.

A good budget means that technically the film is fair. Abinandan behind the camera provides good visuals. STR who scores the music provides louder music that hurt the ears. The songs too are just like you would expect from STR. Antony in his edit does an OK job and direction by Sethuraman is below average.

Sakka Podu Raja is a nonstop nonsense that is intentionally silly.
