PINK MOVIE REVIEW

Pink-2016-hindi-movie-onlineAniruddha Roy Chowdhury is a national award film maker from Bengal who jumps to mainstream Bollywood with PINK.

PINK deals with women woes, not one, but many, that is so skillfully woven. The pulsating script hardly loses focus and every scene is etched microscopically to ensure the least of compromises. Even the subtlety in the movie is so forcefully strung that it sure will leave an ever lasting impact with the viewer. The plot is the same that we have seen in dated movies, but then the problems too are same as it was then now. The writer keeps the characters simple and grounded thereby helping the story stick to the reality we see and feel around. The engaging screenplay keeps the viewer glued to the screen and the court room drama bereft of loudness or melodrama is a clincher.

The three female leads could very well be the ones amongst us.Tapasee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea portray the roles of the girls next door with aplomb. Tapasee and Kulhari get the meatier roles and they do not disappoint. If the edgy Tapasee connects with her brazenness, the demure Kulhari shines with dignity while excelling in emotional scenes. Andrea is fine in her timid role. The evil men play their roles with ease with Vijay Varma taking the top honours for the casual yet commanding performance. The rest of the cast look convincing in their roles. It is the Superstar Amitabh Bachan who falters in the role of the lawyer, sadly for no fault of his. It could be because of him being type cast in these elderly roles that we glimpse a consistent pattern evolve in his performances reflecting typical emotions and gait that give a déjà vu feeling. It is time some director breathed some more variety in this brilliant legend’s performances.

PINK is helped with luster not just on the screen but also behind the scenes. The camera work is efficient and the back ground score is amazing. The dialogues are strictly non filmy and strikes a chord with the viewer. The screenplay is taut and the direction deserves lot of applause.

PINK is a fiercely crafted hard hitting movie that reflects the society we live in. It desists from being cinematic or filmy. PINK smacks of honesty and dignity. It would be a shame to label PINK as a movie that champions’ women’s rights. On the contrary PINK in a way that tells the opposite sex that it’s an “equal” world out there and the only ones they own are just themselves, also that the word “character” is gender neutral and even the presumably “most available” have the freedom to say “NO”.

PINK is testimony to the fact that an uncompromisingly narrated movie can still be a winner all the way.

PINK – RESPECT !!!
