Nambiyar Movie Review

Santhanam, Srikanth in Nambiar Movie “Nambiyar” has taken a long time to hit the screens. Santhanam might be a bit embarrassed to see himself in this role now that he is playing the hero. This movie is by director Ganeshaa who has taken care of the writing as well for the film.

The story has a quirky thought and an unusual presentation too. And the problem is that the script rolls on like a nonstop jabber express. There are hardly any pause moments and the movie is on your face all the time with its double meanings and contrived juvenile scenes. A little more concentration on the script could have helped this movie turn out to be an interesting one. The delayed release shows itself in the background and many a time there is the feeling of being out of sync with the present.

Srikanth has given it his all in terms of performance though there is a lot of scope for improvement. He is good in romantic scenes and scores less in comic scenes. Santhanam goes over board and though his one liners give a few laughs it causes embarrassment too. Sunaina after a long break looks natural and fresh. The rest of the cast are OK in their roles.

The cinematography is cool with vibrant colours strewn all around, while the music apes the script in trying to be unconventional. The director has worked hard in trying to present a creative and intelligent script but fails to achieve it. What deserves special mention is the barrage of dialogues that he is able to concoct throughout the movie and it’s a talkathon.

Nambiyar could have been a little more interesting but fails to work the charm of an odd plot by indulging in a lazily manufactured screenplay
