KODIVEERAN MOVIE REVIEW

KV produced by Sasikumar has Muthayya helming the film with Sasikumar himself donning the role of Kodiveeran.

Sasikumar has a template and so does Muthayya, so when two templates get together there are hardly any surprises for the viewer. The story, oh yes this ancient, flogged to death story has the same brother sister sentiment that gets multiplied three times because you have three pairs of brothers sisters who get into the imbroglio. Add to that a lawless village, a hundred villains where even the lone policeman is on the other side, then the truck load of sentiments that produces more yawns and silly melodrama that makes you look for help from the one sitting next to you. The movie is on a suicide mode right from the word go and even has an elaborate sequencing of the rituals that are observed in rural areas just to impress a few sections . And that is it.

Sasikumar is his usual self but does not suit the “rural mass”, especially in action scenes, he is found wanting. Pasupathy has a meaty role and glares and dares us to death. Among the 3 sisters it is Sanusha who has more screen space while the other Mahima and Poorna have limited. Poorna continues to impress. Others do their bits and pieces.

Cinematograhphy by Kathir is good, though more suited for a mass hero, editing by Venkat Rajan required more work to be done, while music by NR Raghunathan works for the film. Dialogues are OK while direction clicks mostly due to experience and nothing else.

KODIVEERAN despite being an anticipated movie and getting a release after a few obstacles just fails to impress.. Sasikumar and Muthayya have to go back to their drawing board and re work on their templates.
