The “Naan” hit pair is back, Vijay Antony would owe much of his success to director writer Jeeva Shankar for making him tread on a different path.
If the expectation is based on “Naan” Yaman disappoints majorly. Yaman too has a decent plot to be built upon but unlike his previous movie Yaman suffers from poor writing and absolutely plain characterization. The narration drops to boring levels while a few roles do not find purpose in the script. The screen play drags and Yaman begins and ends tamely.
Vijay Antony does nothing new, he is as grumpy as in his earlier movies and he seems comfortable looking so as be believes that is his style. Mia George has no role to play in a totally wasted character. Charlie is the only one who performs well while Thiagarajan with minimal body language and delivery as in his olden days fails to create any impact.
Cinematography by the director himself is good while the movie could have been trimmed a lot at the editing table. The BG is OK trying to enhance the insipid screenplay while the songs are a dud. Dialogues are standard while direction is competent.
YAMAN largely frustrates
YAMAN – YEMATRAM !!
