Vidaamuyarchi is an action thriller film written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, whose screenplay adapts the 1997 American film Breakdown. It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions.
With a lot of buzz around the plot of the film that happens to be the adaptation of BREAKDOWN, most in the audience would already have an inkling of the film. Like most commercial films, this road trip thriller film too suffers from predictability and a very linear routine narration. The pace is slow most of the times and the expected screenplay doesn’t excite. While the first half is laidback and uninteresting until towards the final moments before the interval, the beginning portion in the second half unfortunately goes back to being like the first half. It is the last one hour that the film wakes up but again the climax leaves a lot to be desired.
Ajith looks his part, stylish and at times lazy too. Arjun has not much of a screen space. The same is the case with Regina. Trisha after a full first half goes missing in the second.
Cinematography by Om Prakash is very good. Anirudh behind the musical score is impressive in parts, the songs do not stick though. Srikanth’s editing could have been sharper. Dialogues are decent and direction is standard.
VIDAAMUYARCHI isn’t worth the wait, but could please Ajith fans !!
