The Singham franchise is back with its third installment in the form of Singham 3. Singham could very well be the most longest and successful franchise in Tamil Cinema. After a disappointing start with “Bhairava” this year, kollywood has set its expectations very high for S3.
There is nothing in S3 that can outsmart even a school kid. Using the word “predictable” would be so predictable for the story of S3, the story of S3 is as senseless as it mostly is in a “cop-chase” story that is highly illogical and mock worthy has been flogged to death since ages. What works pathetically bad in St, is the execution, with director and writer Hari going over the top with his template of “loud and fast” , S3 is an assault on your eyes as well as your ears. Everything moves at break neck speed and you hardly have time to even notice anything. S3 could very well be any cop movie from the 1980’s with the screenplay “accelerated” and “amplified” specifically to insult the viewers.
Surya looks jaded and goes about with a performance that borders on being nonchalant. Shruthi Hassan deserves sympathy for an absolutely “wasted” role and looking unconvincing and silly. Anushka looks older and disinterested as Surya’s wife. The villains in the form of Thakur Anoop Singh and Sharath Saxena are impotent and strike a sorry figure. The reputed “others” are ineffective.
Priyan in the form of cinematographer and editors V.T.Vijayan and T.S Jay compete to deliver what “hurts” our eyes the most and all the three succeed. Harris Jeyaraj comes out with his worst possible score that bores you even while you smoke in the corridor. The dialogues are patchy while the direction is “Harried”.
On the whole Singham 3 boasts of “A” grade actors in a “B” grade story with a “C” grade execution and “D” grade technical output.
SINGHAM 3 – ZZZZZingham…
