SAALA is an action film written and directed by Manipaul and produced by People Media Factory.
A few minutes into the film and you realise there is nothing new in the film. The film talks about wine shops and its bad influence. So this film is again old wine in a new bottle. Typical gang wars, loyalty, politicians and scores of thugs keep the interest alive in the film as the narration keeps it simple and appealing to the audience with dialogues that they have heard or spewed. There is some romance too and thankfully the writer keeps it in the background without much focus. What works for the film are the dialogues and the pace of the screenplay that keeps the momentum going. The predictable climax is as cliché as it can get.
Dheeran is all brawn and he displays it to good effect. Reshma Venkatesh is earnest in her performance. Srinath is good and his comedy works. The rest do not disappoint in delivering what they usually do.
Cinematography by Ravindranath Guru is decent. Theeson’s musical score is largely functional. Dialogues work and editing by Buvan is fine. Direction is standard.
SAALA is strictly for masala fans !!
