POGUM IDAM THOORAMILLAI MOVIE REVIEW

POGUM IDAM THOORAMILLAI is a drama that is written and directed Michael K Raja. The film was produced by Siva Killari under the banner Shark Pictures.

The writer picks up the knot of kindness and weaves a travel story with incidents and episodes along the way. Concept wise the writer has pulled up an interesting plot and to weave it in a journey of a mortuary van makes it even more engrossing, but what works against the film is the suspension of logic at various places. There are many questions in the audience’s head that makes it difficult to empathise with the proceedings. The narrative gets predictive and even the climax is not something that the audience cannot foresee. The many subplots do not necessarily create the impact as they do not feel convincing. Emotions work to an extent; the intent is good too.

Vimal surprises with a very effective performance. Karunas, the veteran he is, delivers the goods. Naren and the rest are their usual self, while Deepa goes overboard at times.

Cinematography by Demel Edwards is good. Music by NR Raghunathan is decent. Dialogues are neat. Editing is average while direction is proper.

POGUM IDAM THOORAMILLAI is a decent attempt if one can ignore the cliches !!

POGUM IDAM THOORAMILLAI – POGALAM !!
