Madraskaaran is an action film directed by Vaali Mohan Das and produced by B.Jagadish under the banner of SR Productions.
The film makes a decent impression as it begins as it straightaway transports the audience to a festive atmosphere. But what works against the plot as the movie progresses is the emotional trauma, the viewer is put into as the protagonist goes on a victim ride throughout the film, barely coming out of it. By the time he comes out, it is the viewer who feels like a victim. The director’s idea to empathise with the hero is not an issue but to do it for the full length of the movie is taking the viewer for granted. While the first half is rudimentary, the second half and the twists one after the other doesn’t much surprise you as the effort to confuse the viewer is clearly the plan.
Shane Nigam a Kerala import has done a good job, especially in the later stages of the film. Kalairasan is OK as he has to just project one emotion all through. Niharka Konidela is very average. Karunas is template.
Prasanna Kumar’s cinematography is functional. Musical score by Sam CS is decent. Editing could have been better. Dialogues are OK and direction very much standard.
MADRASKAARAN is more tragic than it sets out to be !!
MADRASKAARAN – MASIVU !!
