‘Vada Chennai’: Samantha out, Amala Paul in?

Dhanush amalapaulIt seems ‘Vada Chennai’, the ambitious project of Dhanush and Vetrimaaran, is undergoing a crucial change. Instead of the originally fixed Samantha, Amala Paul would be the heroine of the film, it is learnt.

Since it is a trilogy and it demanded months of call-sheet from Samantha, it is learnt that the ‘Neethane En Ponvasantham’ and ‘Kaththi’ girl found it difficult to accomodate herself in the project.

Remember there were strong rumours that Samantha is in love with Telugu top star Naga Chaitanya and the two would enter wedlock by the end of this year.

Amala shares a good professional rapport with Dhanush, as she had worked with him in ‘VIP’ and also the lead actress in his production venture ‘Amma Kanakku’.

‘Vada Chennai’ had been in the news since late 2009 with an official announcement only made in November 2011 that the filming would commence by March 2012. After being temporarily shelved, the film re-materialised in May 2015 with a new cast and production started in June 2016.
