One of the finest film-makers in Indian cinema is Balu Mahendra. The legendary Director-Cinematographer is the first person to introduce realism and helped revitalize the industry. Hailing from his Film school ‘Cinema Pattarai’, Srikantan evolves as a Director by his upcoming film ‘Thappu Thandaa’. It is to be noted that Srikantan is the first student from ‘Cinema Pattarai’ to direct a feature film. Produced by Rajan and Sathya Murthi, ‘Thappu Thandaa’ is written and directed by debutante Srikantan that has A. Vinod Bharathi’s Cinematography, Naren Balakumar’s Music and SP Raja Sethupathi’s Editing.
The Director of ‘Thappu Thandaa’ Srikantan has a huge passion towards Short films. It has to be said that Srikantan’s short films ‘ACCEPTANCE’ and ‘COLORS’ are purely a wonderful creations which also bagged him many prestigious awards. ” It was my Short film IDENTITY that carried me to the Legend Balu Mahendra Sir. His words gave me confidence and courage to make ‘THAPPU THANDAA’. Most of the people have a mythical thought that Balu Mahendra sir is only a creator of realistic films.He is also the maker of all-time feel-good films ‘Rettai Vaal Kuruvi’ and ‘Sathi Leelavathy’. I am trying to follow his feel-good patterns.My efforts are basically on this and with the best of efforts we have roped a decent list of artists that will give a great viability to the film.
Recalling his association with the late legend Srikanthan says “His last words were ‘think of me before you switch on the camera’.. which I follow till date and will continue to do. I am sure I will not let his name down….” says Srikantan, the director of THAPPU THANDAA.
