Shanthanu knows his way ahead

shanthanuEight years after he made his debut, Shanthanu Is optimistic about his upcoming flick Mupparimaanam after the first look motion poster has taken the internet by storm. The actor tells us that this acclaim is a hard-earned one Shanthanu Bhagyaraj could have gone on to do more movies than he has with the kind of background he comes from.

But he chose to trust on his passion and dedication for movies that has resulted in the success story of Mupparimaanam’s first look. “There was a lot of hard work that went into bringing this poster. I used to lift 25 kg sandbags to pump up my shoulders and do push ups upside down so that my face bulges and I can easily vent out my emotion in front of the camera. The full credit goes to director Athiroopan for bringing out my potential,” he says.

Shanthanu also relates this film to his debut movie Sakkarakatti(2008). “The script, AR Rahman’s sir’s music everything fell in place for my debut movie. Likewise, this film has GV Prakash composing music who was supposed to play the hero before me. He accepted this to do this movie for the strength of the script and for my dad. The entire film was nostalgic for me as we shot at schools were my dad shot his films and the national award winning editor Vivek Harshan coming forward to edit this movie.”

The actor was also all praise for the producers of the movie. “I should thank my producers Pollachi V Visu and Pollachi Gold Kumar for giving us the freedom. Looking at our enthusiasm they did not let us stall the shoot at any stage citing budget constraints. You don’t often get such an amazing encouragement form debut producers,” he says. Asked if the movie will justify his previous let downs, he says, “I wouldn’t call it let downs because whenever I listen to a script, I do it with a great conviction. But when the end result on the screen is not what you have expected, that disappoints me,” he says. Shanthanu is hoping to have three releases this year as Vaaimai and Amali Thumali are in his kitty
