‘Kabali’ issue: Kalaipuli Thanu goes to High Court

kabali5Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ and the president of Tamil Film Producers Council, today approached the Madras High Court to block over 180 piracy websites across the globe, which are constantly spreading pirated version of Tamil films.

In his petition, Thanu requested the Court to issue a direction to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to instruct all the major Internet Service Providers to block the listed torrents and websites.

The producer further said in his plea that more than 70 per cent of total revenue generated online was garnered by illegal downloads of films, music and pornography. Only 30 per cent was paid for by people using for legal purposes on legal means.

Meanwhile, plans are on to ensure a grand release for ‘Kabali’ on July 22. Besides more than 1000 theatres in the south, the film will be released in the north India. In US alone, the flick will be screened at 400 theatres, it is learnt.
