‘Kabali’ case: HC orders closure of piracy websites

kabaliThe Madras high court today ordered to block websites that illegaly upload Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’. The order was passed based on a petition filed by producer Kalaipuli S Thanu.

In the writ petition, Thanu. who is also president of Tami Film Producers Council, has requested the Court to direct TRAI to instruct all the major Internet Service Providers to block the listed torrents and websites.

He has also included the Tamil Nadu Anti-Piracy cell in his petition. The case was heard by Justice N Kirubakaran on Thursday afternoon.

The producer further said in his plea that more than 70 per cent of total revenue generated online was garnered by illegal downloads of films, music and pornography. Only 30 per cent was paid for by people using for legal purposes on legal means.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film which has music by Santhosh Narayanan will hit the screens on July 22. Radhika Apte, Dhanshika, Kishore and others have played key roles.
