Action King Arjun’s 150th film Nibunan

From his early beginnings in Karnataka, from being inspired by Bruce Lee and learning martial arts, a string of successful action films through the nineties and to branching out as a writer and a director, Arjun has seen it all and done it all.The latest outing of this ageless actor is Nibunan. A thriller helmed by Arun Vaidhyanathan of Kalyana Samayan Sadham fame. This film will see Arjun share screen space with an ensemble cast that includes big names like Prasanna, Vaibhav, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Suhasini and Uma Riaz. The film is all set to hit the screens this year.

Arjun’s career started with the Kannada film Simhada Mari Sainya in the year 1981. After a few Kannada films, he ventured into Kollywood with the film Nandri in the year 1984. A year later, in 1985, he made his Telugu debut with the film Maa Pallelo Gopaludu. In the following years he made a string of films in all three languages and in 1992 decided to branch out and took on the added roles of writer, producer and director in his maiden venture, Sevagan.This film got the attention of Director Shankar who was looking for a lead man for his directorial debut. Then in the year 1993 Gentleman happened, and the rest as they say is history. Gentleman catapulted Arjun to a stature as a big league actor and also won him the state award for the best male lead that year.Arjun is known for his patriotism and the pride for the nation that he tries to imbibe in his films. Nobody can forget films like Jai Hind, Karna, Subash, or his short yet sublime portrayal of a cop caught in the torrents of terrorism in the critically acclaimed Kuruthippunal alongside Kamal Hassan.With the turn of the millennium, Arjun, known for his high-octane action flicks, ventured into softer roles in films such as Vedam, Rhythm and Vanavil, which brought out the versatility of this actor to the fore. He still kept his foot firm on the action pedal, churning out hits like Giri, Aanai Ezhumalai and Durai to name a few.
