YEMAALI MOVIE REVIEW

YEMAALI is by director Durai who is back after a long hiatus after the popular “Mugavari” and “Thotti Jaya” both important movies for their respective stars. The movie is produced by Latha for Latha Productions.

The premise of the film is actually a little interesting though the film begins like a novice who shot the film. This “adult” film that attempts at some thrill and some “mature romance” ends up a cropper. There is little that engages the viewer in terms of content. The “murder attempt” and the investigation of a murder that never happened could have been interestingly told but falls flat towards the end.

Samudrakanni seems to be a must in every movie and here he is preaching everything about love, sex and relationships. He is OK in his role with a weird beard. Sam Jones as the lost youth is average while Athulya and Roshni compete with each other in the “glamour” department than acting.
Rethish Kanna and Prakash handle the camera giving OK output. Sam D Raj churns out an irritating back ground score and even more annoying songs. Sudharshan edits the film that has average dialogues. Direction by Durai despite being a veteran is largely poor.

YEMAALI just does not work despite having an OK premise.
