U TURN is the remake official remake of U TURN in Kannada. This movie by Pawan Kumar of Lucia fame managed to draw critics attention.
Tamil cinema has been hit with a flurry of thriller films that married other genres like comedy and drama. U TURN does not take the conventional path. This thriller is subtle and quiet but still works it’s way in keeping the viewer glued. The narration is neat with some interesting twists but the downside is the pace. The film moves at its own pace especially for a thriller. The climax could have been better handled too.
Samantha was quite impressed with the original and offered to produce and act in it and she does quite a good job in an honest performance. Aadhi Pinisetty is good along with Rahul. Bhumika is okay in a short role.
Niketh behind the camera does a decent job. Poorna Tejaswi scores well in the music department. Suresh edits the film fine. Dialogues are good and direction by Pawan Kumar works.
U TURN is an interesting attempt that isn’t conventional but deserves to be encouraged.
