THERU NAIGAL MOVIE REVIEW

Theru Naigal is by debutant Hari Uthara and produced by Sushil Kumar Jain. The movie has a fairly decent cast and had an interesting trailer to showcase the movie.

This revenge saga that is normal in Indian cinema has undergone a different treatment at the hands of Hari. The unconventional story telling confuses the viewers at the beginning and the pertinent flashbacks with dates and times that show up on the screen. It does take a while to understand the non linear way of storytelling and by then the obviousness takes over. The social cause along with the personal vendetta tries to make it look a lot more convincing. The unnecessary romance portion in an already short film makes it much longer especially the ones with Appukutty.

Absence of a single hero and the presence of actors who have played such roles earlier makes TN comfortable for viewing. Appukutty is a little annoying at times. Others are decent especially Imman Annachi.

Cinematography by Thalapathy Ratnam captures the moods well and the tone of the film keeps the audience glued. Good editing could have trimmed the already short movie further. Music by Harish and Sathish. The back ground score is decent while the songs are a speed breaker. Dialogues are OK while direction is quite decent.

Theru Naigal could have been tighter and a lot better instead it drags and that makes it lengthier than it actually is. On the whole TN is a decent attempt.
