It would be surprising if “Conjuring” ceases from being a Franchise now on. Having delivered a “Horrific” hit all over the world, and the Indian audience too lapping it up, Conjuring 2 follows faithfully in the footsteps of its predecessor.
Unlike its first part “Conjuring 2” has more scares. While the first part was subtle in trying to scare the audience “C2” is bold and hooks the scares right through the movie culminating in a roller coaster ride for a thrilling finale. The story is wonderfully packaged with a slow and steady buildup of the horror to be unleashed. There are clichés like you would see in any horror movie but they are expertly packaged.
“Conjuring 2” owes its success a lot to its wonderful star cast and a sound technical team. The lead pair seem to own their roles very comfortably and are fantastic together. Others in the movie too are very effective. It is always surprising to see children perform so well in horror movie.
Technically it is brilliant like you would expect in a movie of this genre. Cinematography screams out capturing every detail whereas the background score is sharp, punctuated with all the thrills. Director Wan looks very assured in this genre and with a thousand files for him to pry into he is at ease in this chair of horror. The flaws are far and few and are well camouflaged by deftness.
“Conjuring” is well on its way to be a successful franchise. With the audience rooting for it knowing what is in store, it may well take a few more sequels to get tired of. Until then savour the horror.
