TERMINATOR DARK FATE MOVIE REVIEW

Lightstorm Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media have produced this film that sees Arnold Schwarzenegger back on the big screen in the titular role. Tim Miller of Deadpool fame has directed this film.

The film begins by giving you an insight into the past and the future and this is where the film takes off. There is action aplenty but there are too many pauses of “silence” as well and the throwback to those flashbacks, mar the proceedings. The predictable storyline has nothing new to offer but then the women centric idea is a pleasant and welcome surprise. The action scenes are inconsistent from being impressive to very childish. The other downside is the humour, though wry as it can get it just doesn’t work.

Arnold Schwarzenegger delivers a subdued and yet decent performance. Gabriel Luna is effective but less menacing. It is the women in the film who score, be it Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes or Sarah Connor. They are impressive in their roles.

Technically the movie is just about above average. The film is loaded with CGI as you would expect and they don’t blow your mind. They are all grounded for the most part of it.

TERMINATOR, DARK FATE is not a full blown entertaining film but then being supposedly the last installment of a legendary franchise deserves a watch.
