TE3N MOVIE REVIEW

te3nWhat can one do when you have “TEEN” gigantic actors assemble before a director for a movie? The director makes a “TE3N” out of them. True to its style “TE3N” tumbles. An official remake of a Korean movie that goes by the name “Montage”, “TE3N” is a pain staking effort as painful as writing the movie name in this review.

The story is as small as you can get and the screenplay that should have been the backbone of a thriller movie as this is tedious. Interestingly the story begins quite well without any hesitation, but then it’s the indulgence in role-play and the snail like narration that takes quite a beating. The director’s adulation for the lead cast is blatant and so is the over emphasis on their performance that leaves the film as rickety as the scooter that Amitabh Bachan uses in the film.

With one of the greatest actors in Amitabh Bachan and with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan who are well on their path to glory, the writer/director seem to have completely ignored the script focusing more on their tiny details. Amitabh Bachan tries his best to do justice to his role, but after a while his stoop and his reactions become too much to bear. Nawazuddin walks around like a mascot uttering amusing jokes that is hardly laughable. It is sad that an actor like Nawazuddin is underutilized. Vidya Balan tries her best to be reasonable. Others do what is expected out of them.

The cinematography is good capturing the heart of Kolkata and the vulnerability of it. The background score is a huge let down and the songs make no impact. The editing is careless and the writing poor. The director tries too hard and that reflects in every facet that makes “TE3N” tardy.

TE3N – YAAAWN !!
