TAMIZH PADAM 2 MOVIE REVIEW

Tamizh Padam set the box office registers ringing and the audience singing when it released years back and a sequel to it was long due. Here comes the sequel directed by Amuthan and produced by Y Not Studios.

They say why tamper with a successful formula and TP 2 sticks to its template faithfully. Gags, barbs, trolls you got all of it plenty but then nothing is new. With social media ruling the roost in roasting politicians, stars and celebrities alike there is nothing that you find unique or extremely hilarious. With  comedy piled up and shaky, this vehicle chugs and drags its way through being less entertaining and less laugh worthy. Ironically it is the “non-talkie” portions that are more interesting than the talkie ones.

Shiva is at ease in this role; one reason could also be that he cannot do any other role better than this. His dead pan looks and an annoying dialogue delivery style suits this character to the T. But then again he was much better in part one than this. Sathish manages to deliver what is expected out of him. Ishwarya Menon is decent and the rest are OK.
Gopi Amarnath keeps the proceedings lively with his camera work, Kannan’s music suits the script while Suresh on the edit table could  have been less generous. Dialogues are OK. Direction is standard.

TAMIZH PADAM 2 comes with a lot of expectations but lacks freshness or innovativeness and is more a stale parody.
