SATHRIYAN MOVIE REVIEW

SATHRIYAN, the name would remind most the Vijayanth starrer that despite achieving critical acclaim failed to deliver as promised at the box-office. SR Prabhakaran tries to infuse his elements into this very striking title.

There is no time wasted in characterization and straight away the audience is led to know the characters in the movie. This lets the audience dive into the plot of the film straightaway. With romance as the backdrop in a gang war Sathriyan manages to keep the viewers engaged. But the downside is the lack of strength in the certain characters especially that of Ravi, the main antagonist. Due to this the screenplay slackens and the narration takes a beating. The climax though not very cliché is still more convenient than daring.

Vikram Prabhu is intense in the lead role, but when it comes to romance and dancing he suffers badly. Manjima is apt as the goon’s daughter and performs admirably. Aruldoss is more lethal as the don while Vijay Murugan suffers in a very weak role. Others are decent in their roles.

Sivakumar, the cinematographer has done a very good job behind the camera and deserves kudos, while the songs by Yuvan don’t stick it is his background score that help the movie more. Editor Venkat should have spent more time with the film. Dialogues are good and direction by SRP is neat.

SATHRIYAN sticks to its rules and hardly deviates but yet could have been tighter and stronger.
