REKKA MOVIE REVIEW

rekkaREKKA is Rathina Shiva’s first movie to be released. He has Vijay Sethupathi who has a string of hits under his belt for company. Rekka had a subdued pre release promotion adding more curiosity.

The story is “Ghilli” like told in a silly way. In an archaic script every scene is drab and foolishly manufactured. The flashbacks are annoying and immature. The screenplay tries to ride on the successful 90’s Tollywood bus with SUV’s for company and comes out badly mangled.

It is a little amusing to see the ever dependable Vijay Sethupathi perform inconsistently in this rickety script. He is clumsy in action scenes and hardly looks convincing otherwise. Lakshmi Menon looked like she was acting in a different movie in a frustrating character. KS Ravikumar and the rest are OK in their roles. The two villains in Harish Utthaman and Kabir Singh keep snarling at each other throughout the movie.

The camera is in its usual form in a mass commercial like this, it behaves cranky as is expected. The action scenes go overboard and are badly choreographed. Music by Iman is average and the loud background score befits the monotonous screenplay. The director deserves to be derided for making a mockery of a talent like Vijay Sethupathi and essaying an absolutely dud script.

Rekka would rank as Vijay Sethupathi’s weakest script so far and surely would disappoint his growing fans.

REKKA – MOKKA !!
