RANGOON MOVIE REVIEW

RANGOON is by debutant Rajkumar Periasamy who worked under AR.Murgadoss. The movie has a strong backing with ARM and Fox studios joining together.

As the name suggests the story of the film has its origin and backdrop in Burma, but save for a few scenes and forced relation there is nothing that is Burmese about the movie. The story is an amalgamation of many stories that we have seen and is nothing new. The screenplay too takes on a much known narration. The plot and the suspense do the trick and even the detailing done in plot is commendable but otherwise there is nothing in this lame duck story that engages.

Gowtham Karthik should be happy with the fact that this perhaps could be his best film to date, while the heroine Sana catwalks around with an ear to ear smile and nothing more to do. Others offer decent support with no particular “performance deserving” notice.

Cinematography by Anish is good while the songs by Vikram sound more like a pop album and not a movie track. The background score by Vishal Chandrashekar sets the mood. Editing is decent while the dialogues are standard. Direction for a debutant is quite good.

RANGOON is supported by trying to be comprehensive but even then, there are blips that are very noticeable. At the most it turns out to be an honest effort.
