PADAIVEERAN MOVIE REVIEW

Padaiveeran is directed by Dhana for Evoke production house. Madhivanan produces the film and has Karthik Raja after a long break back in Kollywood.

The story of Padaiveeran is set in a village and has the age old mix of politics and caste to spice up the screenplay. The movie begins very leisurely and slowly manages to gain pace though the plot gets more or less predictable until the climax. It does take a lot of time for the seriousness to set in and that can test the patience of the viewer. There is nothing in the movie that is not told before and thus fails to engage.

Vijay Yesudas is the surprise package and has performed admirably. With this show he can sure give some jitters to the established stars in Kollywood. Amritha is pretty in her role and does a decent job. Bharathiraja shows his mettle in his brief role and is convincing in his character. There are a lot in the role of supporting cast and they just do their average job.

Cinematography by Rajavel Mohan is decent. Karthik Raja after a long break does a good job behind the scenes. The songs are average but mar the pace of the film. Bhuvan edits the film and is average in his job though a few snips could have made the end product a little better. Dialogues are standard while direction by Dhana is good for a first timer.

Padaiveeran has good intentions with very good performances, but has sadly a stale plot.
