NIMIR MOVIE REVIEW

NIMIR is the remake of the hugely successful “Maheshinte Pratikaram” Malayalam movie helmed by Priyadarshan himself who directs this remake as well.

Remakes are never easy, some remakes are as effortless as the original or just plainly successful while most just get lost. Remaking a Malayalam movie is much more difficult simply because they are innocently charming and the landscape, the environment and the earthy dialogues are woven into the script giving it an earthy feel that connects with their audience immediately. With the remake there is always is the disconnect, and the simple things that were appreciated in the original look Teflon.

Udaynidhi Stalin’s improvement in the acting department is evident and it is good that he is taking up roles that are simple and neat. Parvathi Nair is decent is OK while Mahendran is very good. Namitha Pramod is good as the second heroine.

Ekambaram as the cinematographer does a very good job capturing the earthy visuals well. Darbuk Siva and Ajneesh Loknath as the music composers do a commendable job. Editing is OK by Ayyappan while dialogues are decent. Direction by Priyadarshan is average.

Nimir does not stick despite being so simple and neat for it lacks soul.

NIMIR – GOONU !!
