Lakshmi Movie Review

A sweet and simple story combined with electrifying dance performances from Prabhudeva (as Vijay Krishna or VK) and Ditya Bhande (as Lakshmi) and a bunch of cute kids is what ‘Lakshmi’ is all about. Vijay has written and directed the film under the Pramod Films and Trident Arts banner.

Lakshmi is a school going kid who thinks and lives dance all the time. Sadly her passion for dance is something she cannot express to her mom, Aishwarya Rajesh (as Nandini) who for some reason is against her daughter getting into dancing! However, this does not stop Lakshmi and she continues to pursue her passion without her mom’s knowledge.

Things take a sudden twist for Lakshmi when she meets a restaurant owner, VK, who supports this little girl’s passion. They become best of friends and VK even helps her get to a Dance Academy so that she can learn dance professionally and participate in Pride of India 2017!

All goes well till Lakshmi first gets to stage to perform! She goes blank and just cannot dance due to stage fear and for this she gets ridiculed by her coach, Sophiya (Chennai team coach) and gets thrown out of the academy. This is when VK gets upset and decides to go talk for Lakshmi. When the selectors realize that he is none other than the prominent artist, VK Sir, they tell him that the team can participate only and only if he coaches them.

Does VK take up the challenge and help the team move forward? Does Lakshmi realize her dream of winning the Pride of India contest and does her mom finally come to know of her daughter’s dream and support it? All this and more is what the movie beholds for you!

The mindblowing choreography is the highlight of the movie. Paresh Shirodkar, Ruel Dausan Varindani and Shampa Sonthalia are the choreographers and Karky has given the lyrics for the movie!

The other characters in the movie who have done a good job are Salman Yusuff Khan (as Yusuf, the Mumbai team coach), Kovai Sarala (as Saraswathi, the School Principal), Karunakaran (as Alagu, the waiter), Master Akshat and Master Jeet Das and Chaams (as the bus conductor).

If you are someone who loves dance and wishes to see some awesome dance performances then this movie is definitely worth a watch for YOU!

Ditya who plays Lakshmi in the movie is the winner of Super Dancer Season 1 (a kids TV reality show)!

Must watch for dance and music lovers!
