JUNGA MOVIE REVIEW

Vijay Sethupathi produces this much hyped flick that is directed by Gokul who in the company of VS gave the huge hit “Idhukku dhan aasepattai Balakumara”.

Gokul is famous for his “comedy” in writing as well as his interesting screenplay. With Junga he tries to step up the game not just for himself but for VS as well, and therein lays the fault. The point of focus in the film is all about VS and hence the narration gets weary all along. VS occupies almost every frame, though the one liners do work here and there, the inconsistency in the narrative and the predictable goofiness makes Junga a tiring watch. The over the top characterization with flat overtones disappoint further. Not one character stand out save for Junga’s Paati who is the show stealer.

Vijay Sethupathi seems to have played the role of the producer better than the role of JUNGA, he is ineffective and sticks to his templated acting. Sayyesha and Madonna strictly play the role of glam dolls. Yogi Babu saves the film from being a terrible bore.

JUNGA could easily be the biggest for VS in terms of budget. Dudley the cinematographer does a very good job behind the camera. Siddharth Vipin’s songs add to the pain while his background score is ineffective. Sabu Joseph edits the film and it could have easily been half an hour short with no complaints. Dialogues work in parts while direction by Gokul is his weakest effort.

JUNGA ends up mocking itself despite spoofing others; it ends up as bad as its predecessors when the spoofs stop.
