JACKSON DURAI MOVIE REVIEW

jackson duraiAfter a promising “Burma” writer/director Dharaneedharan takes us on a ghost ride with “Jackson Durai”. This is the umpteenth “Ghost+horror” movie from the Tamil Film Industry and should it be time to kill the trend? “Jackson Durai” stretches the genre a lot more by including fantasy to make “Jackson Durai” a “Ghostasy”.

A nonexistent story and a quirky plot is something that is expected from this genre, but a lengthened screenplay just to fill time can make viewing cumbersome. The downfall in the script is the lack of thrills. The fear factor is absent and the goofiness of the characters hardly evokes any laughter. The pre independence era, though a nice thought, is badly executed.

Sibiraj is a misfit in the character; Karunakaran too looks out of place with little to deliver. Satyaraj breezes through his role. Bindhu Madhavi reminds her existence thrice in the movie, though unwarranted. The much hyped Mottai Rajendran gets a measly role and wades through.

The movie is bearable only because of some decent cinematography, wonderful art work and a very good background score. Makeup and costumes deserve appreciation too.

“Jackson Durai” is one idea that went real bad. Wish it is the last of the mindless ghost movies that the Tamil Film Industry is hell bent on showing us.

JACKSON DURAI – SAD JOKE!
