Idhu Namma Aalu Movie Review

Idhu-Namma-AaluINA has been in the making, news and release for long. Is it worth the long wait?.. INA starts of very lazily depicting the “IT” culture which has been mocked and socked in many movies. Pandiaraj picks up an interesting premise for his story that could have been told strongly, but he prefers to make light of everything in the movie. The screenplay lack depth and mostly stays flat. The follow up to the story is so ordinary that, though you wait for something to happen you very well know it would not and it also ends very tame. Some scenes are reminiscent of STR’s personal life and there are even references to that. Yet there is nothing new in them.

STR, Nayanthara and Andrea are seasoned actors and there is virtually nothing new to do for them. They perform at ease and well. Soori surprisingly plays his part well and is not loud like in other movies. He manages some genuine laughs from the audience. The supporting cast walks on predictable lines. The rudimentary dialogues are mostly lines from the youth of today and it kind of works. The light hearted script makes it easy for dialogues to be easy and cute. Technically the movie stays true to the “IT” verve. The movie is helped a great deal by some very good cinematography and fine presentation. Costumes are a big plus. The much expected dance moves from STR are just average. The songs are “decent” from the debutant composer brother of STR, Kuralarasan, though he has a lot of work to do on the BG front. Direction by Pandiaraj is safe.

INA can just about manage to be a time pass movie and nothing more. For around 2 hours it is like a fancy car running on flat tyres. You can have fun as long as it runs or you can just wonder why??
