GOLI SODA 2 MOVIE REVIEW

Few years back Goli Soda for its funky name and its impressive script struck gold at the box office satisfying critics and cine goers alike. Vijay Milton, cinematographer turned director had a few duds in the form of “ 10 endrathukule and Kadugu” after Goli Soda. Now he turns back to GS for a sequel in the form of GS – 2, produced by Rough note.

Well, why tweak a successful formula, Vijay Milton sticks to the same formulae of GS-1. But in this film he gets stuck in a cocoon spinning one web after another that disengage the audience and the soda towards the end tastes like water. Unconvincing characters, typical masala and forced romance all make GS-2 a tiresome watch. If the first half is bearable, the second half goes on and on well into the next show. Despite the film being just 130 minutes long the film is an arduous watch with its misfit dialogues and preachy interpolations.

GS-2 has a plethora of actors, and every frame is a crowd. Samuthrakanni is good in his role, while the boys in the form of Bharath Seeni, Essaki Bharath and Vinoth are ineffective in a feeble script. Gowtham Vasudev Menon’s on screen presence is as good as his off screen presence and can be totally ignored. The rest play their overzealous roles with promise.

Cinematography by Vijay Milton is decent, though he tries to impress us with some tricks that do not hold attention after a while. Achu Ramani’s back ground score makes a mark, but the songs don’t quite register. Editor Deepak should have worked over time. Dialogues are weak and direction is average.

Vijay Milton’s tried and tested formula does not work this time. Goli Soda 2 is as predictable as plain water.

GOLI SODA 2 – GAALI SODA !!
