ENKITTE MOTHATHEY MOVIE REVIEW

EM is a movie by Ramu Chellappa who has picked “Fan” as the base plot for his movie. Though the hindi “Fan” has no connection to this.

The movie has most of its story revealed in the trailer and the audience would very well go without any huge expectations fully aware of what is in store. The story that revolves around the lives of two fans one a Rajini fan and the other a Kamal fan, and has its setting decades back as many mid-lifers would be able to connect to it. The young audiences who have heard of such “Fannisms” would be able to see it on the big screen. Story wise it’s very basic and sticks to the basics faithfully till the end without trying to be ambitious.

Natty is at ease in this role of a Rajini fan as it comes very naturally to him, while Rajaji as the Kamal fan does his bit. The heroines in the form of Parvathi Nair and Sanchatti Shetty have little to do and play their love interests. Radha Ravi is comfortable in his negative role while the others support ably.

The cinematography by Ganesh Chandra is decent while art direction crucial in such retro movies is pretty functional. Music by Natarajan Sankaran is just about OK. Dialogues make its mark while direction by Ram Chellapa is good.

Enkitte Mothathey explicitly shows its tilt towards Rajinism and the reasons are well known. The title itself is a takeoff from his popular song and the movie stays in line with it.
