Enakku Veru Engum Kilaigal Kidaiyathu Movie Review

ENAKKU VEREGUM KILAIGAL KIDAIDHU MOVIE REVIEWA film star can never retire they say, there is something that pulls them back to the arc lights. We do know of Goundamani as the elusive star who never gave interviews during his hey days and matched many top stars in terms of billing. He returned recently with a serious film in 49-0 that received a lukewarm response. Now with a debutant director Ganapathy he returns with EVKK.

With Goundamani in the script you try and work on satire and his kind of comedy. The script is full of them and some work and some fall flat. His dig on popular stars and filmmakers can make them squirm but entertains the viewers. The issue is the partial take on them. He talks about everything in the movie from politics, movie stars and even casteist leaders. They work but you wonder why does he not talk about the ill effects of drinking and is seen with a glass in his hand half of the movie. The script is worked around Goundamani and that is the weakness of the script, though there are a few good moments the screenplay looks stretched to extend.

Goundamani is effective though the wear and tear is clearly visible. He makes up with his trademark body language and is still good enough with his dialogue delivery. Sana as his wife plays her role well. The rest of the cast too do a good job in their roles.

Cinematography is good and the music department is average. For a debutant director Ganapathy has tried his best to offer a commercially viable product under the aegis of Goundamani, but somewhere it is felt this director has the potential to deliver and could have delivered a better product without the star.
