CHITHIRAM PESUDHADI 2 MOVIE REVIEW

Formerly shot as ULA, the film slipped into coma for close to 6 years. ULA got itself a new name for its release as Chithiram Pesudhadi 2 for reasons best known to its producers L. V. Srikanth, SN Ezilan, Yugesram. Rajan Madhav of “Muran” fame has written and directed this film that hits the screens after a very long gap.

Rajan Madhav was acknowledged for his decent work in Muran and with CP2 he steps it up further with complex characters that are multi layered in a plot that tries to juxtapose all of it towards the end. So far so good, but it is the jumpy screenplay that switches without consistency that makes each episode feel oblivious to the other. The on screen happenings fail to connect with the viewer and the film more or less proceeds as a news ticker. Despite decently written the script lacks depth.

CP2 has a bevy of actors who are known for good performances and they don’t disappoint mostly. Radhika Apte as usual shows how good an actress she is and has been. Vidharth is his usual self. Ajmal’s standard expression is confusing while Gyathri, Nivedhita and Nivas do a decent job. Dwanye Bravo’s cameo is fun. The rest too are OK.

Padmesh helps the scenes look convincing with his frames, Sajan Madhav’s background score is wavering while the songs despite being half a decade old manages to not sound odd. Editing by Venkatraman is weak while dialogues are decent. Direction by Rajan Madhav is standard.
Despite being 6 years old CP2 still manages to hold its own, but then a little more sting a little more spunk and a lot more spite would have made it a better watch.
