CHENNAIYIL ORU NAAL 2 MOVIE REVIEW

CO2 tries to become a franchisee of the well-received Chennaiyil Oru Naal which was a remake of the popular Malayalam film Traffic. This movie is an adaptation of a Rajesh Kumar novel. Firstly the biggest surprise is the title, looks like the makers wanted to bring audience to the theatre trying to encash on the success of the previous film. Otherwise the movie’s setting has nothing to do with Chennai and has all its action in Coimbatore.

The story is interesting but the plots and the sub plots as well as the writing make a mess of it. Add to that is the poor production value that undermines the scenes. The investigation process is one complete mess and so is the flaky screenplay filled with logical loopholes.

Sarathkumar goes about his role in a mechanical manner. Suhasini comes in a short brief role while the others are just about there going through their motions.

Cinematography by Vijay Deepak is interesting and tries to make the scenes more intriguing than they actually are. Music is by Jakes Bejoy that does not work too well. Dialogues are bland while direction by JPR is below average.
CO2 fails to do justice to the novel and sadly does not work despite potential.
