BRUCE LEE MOVIE REVIEW

A film title usually can be an intriguing one in attempting to reveal a glimpse of what is in store in a 2.5 hour movie. Prasanth Pandiyaraj titles this movie “Brucelee” in an attempt to make the audience look at its irony.

The film begins with a quote from Tarantino, and mocks the same with a quote from the director. But things start to look up with a very interesting “titling” and you got to wait till “The end” title to get you out of the torture chamber.  The movie is one non- stop tragedy sold in the name of comedy with no clear direction on what route to take.

GVP is in his usual character, naïve, idiotic and silly, but is very tiring from the word go. Kirti is like the usual heroines in a GVP movie, patronizing the hero, dancing around him in a very limited role. The rest of the characters in the movie are as morbid as you can get and Mottai Rajendran delivers the “peak of annoyance” performance.

Cinematography by Shankar saves the scenes somewhat, while GVP with his standard BGM and songs manages to pass out average. Two editors and a job not even half done explain their work, while the dialogues work at a very few places they are bad most of the time. Writing and direction is pathetic to say the least.

Brucelee is a mockery of not just the title it is an assault on every sensibility that is called a “movie”.  It’s a travesty that it is named after a legend and a reminder to the audience not to encourage such “junk”.
