AYIRATHIL IRUVAR MOVIE REVIEW

Director Saran a veteran who has given many hits is back after a very long break. Vinay who got a fresh lease of life in Thuparrivalan plays the lead in this movie produced by Saran himself.

Saran works on a stale story that is told innumerable times and gives it a fast paced screenplay with a lot of oomph, slapstick comedy and crazy confusion. The result is you can cringe and laugh at the same time absolutely not bothering about the story. The mayhem and the predictable plot make no sense. The total lack of logic and absolute stupidity in the proceedings notwithstanding the movie has its few funny moments.

Vinay has fun in both the roles with hardly any distinction between them. The women in the movie are mostly for the “hot” factor and they provide plenty of sleaze throughout. Arul Doss is the pick in the movie and the others as well do a loud and expected job.

Cinematography by Krishna Ramanan is very rudimentary while music by Bharadwaj is noisy and does not classify as music. The lyrics are loud and vulgar. Editing works majorly for the film with some quick edits. Dialogues are full of double meanings that work at some places and are bad at many. Direction for a veteran like Saran is sub standard.
AI turns out exactly the way it was conceived, shrill, brash and to please a certain section. After a long gap it is back to the typical masala that disappeared fora long time. So loud, cheap, colours and jokes apart AI might find an audience too.
