ADITHYA VARMA MOVIE REVIEW

ARJUN REDDY, this film was a raging hit from the stables of Tollywood that catapulted Vijay Devarokoda to superstardom across the country. VD brought in a certain charisma to the titular role that was hard to replicate. Until, Shahid Kapoor, one of the finest actors in Bollywood essayed the same role as “Kabir Singh”. To his credit SK did justice and in certain areas performed better if not as good, because of his experience. When the Kollywood version was launched everyone looked a bit surprised, more so because one of Kollywood’s brilliant actor Vikram had his son playing the role. The movie got stuck for various reasons and has at last seen the light of the day. E4 Entertainment produces this film.

This is an almost faithful remake of the original and for people who have not seen the original and the remake after that, this film can be unsettling for a few. Kollywood audience can see some shades of “Sethu” at the beginning but then the movie takes on a different plane from there. The rawness and the impudence of the screenplay can be very compelling, but then too much has been written and seen of the film that the freshness or the surprise is completely lost.

Dhruv is honest, and for a debutant comes out unscathed. Yet, the showman VD and the brilliant SK had virtually given their everything, and it is tough to expect a debutant, however the genes, to deliver something new. Banita Sandhu comes out with a fine performance. Leela Samson is the one who knocks it out with a wonderful act. The rest have not been dealt with well.

Ravi K Chandran’s amazing cinematography is a huge plus. Radhan’s music is patchy at its best. Editor Vivek Harshan has had two films to look back at. Dialogues are good and direction by Gireesaya is decent.

ADITHYA VARMA doesn’t struggle but then remains an attempt at its best..
