60 Vayadhu Maaniram Movie Review

’60 Vayadhu Maaniram’ is an out and out family entertainer with some real good performances by some of the actors in the movie. It shows how people need to spend more time with their loved ones; especially their elderly parents and take good care of them instead of just being in the rat race for money!

The film has Prakash Raj (as Professor Govindaraj) and Vikram Prabhu (as Siva, son of Prof. Govindaraj). Soon after the Prof. loses his beloved wife to cancer, he is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Siva tries to take care of his dad, but very soon loses patience with him due to his medical condition and moves to another city for a better job role. Siva decides to leave his dad in Chennai in an elderly care centre while he moves to Mumbai.

Siva after a while decides to leave India for good and move to the US. He decides to visit his dad before he leaves. After bringing his dad back from shopping he drops him off at the entrance itself and leaves. This is when the real problem starts. To his shock, Siva’s dad goes missing from the gate! Siva yells at the doctor of the care centre (played by Induja), but later realizes that he is equally at fault for what happened and together they decide to find Siva’s dad.

Meanwhile, Ranga (a goon, played by Samuthirakani) has killed a cop and he and his friend are on the run to dispose off the body. This is when the Prof. accidentally gets into their van. Now all these people get stuck in a huge mess and end up finding a hiding place at a family’s home in the far outskirts of the city.

Does Siva manage to find his lost dad? Does he realize that it was a grave mistake to not have spent time with his dad all these days? Do Samuthirakani and his friend get caught by the cops? All this and more for you to watch 60 Vayadhu Maaniram and find out!

The awesome music is by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and the background score has been done real well too. The movie is powerpacked with some hard hitting dialogues and the story by Hemant M Rao is really well scripted. The film happens to be a remake of the popular 2010 Kannada movie ‘Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu’. The movie has been produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the V Creations banner. The film is directed by Radha Mohan.

All the actors in the movie including the cute little kid have done their bit well. Prakash Raj has done a good job with his role and so have Samuthirakanni and Induja. Vikram Prabhu has done a decent job, but needs to get better with expressing emotions since at some very emotional points of the movie his expressions seemed cold.

Definitely worth a watch! A good family entertainer.
