54321 MOVIE REVIEW

54321-Movie-Poster-8This movie with an interesting title is by debutant director Ragevandra Prasad. This movie has a lot of debutants and the exception being the experienced Jushua Sridhar who takes care of the music. The movie has been hyped as a psychological thriller.

Few minutes in and you know that this hostage revenge saga has been influenced by some international movies that are quite famous for such plots. Such movies rely more on the thrill factor and queer surprises. They are there here too but not very compelling. The school flashback is well shot and is quite interesting too. What mars this pretty decent script is the disjointed screenplay that lacks logic at very crucial places making you wonder “Come on don’t be stupid”.

The lead pair is OK. Shabeer as the menacing villain is too shallow and pulls down the already weak screenplay. The lead pair work OK and the supporting cast too pull through. What works surprisingly well are the performances by the child artistes. Especially the junior Vikram, he looks more threatening than the senior Vikram and has delivered a power packed performance.

The back ground score is jerky as you would expect and the cinematography borders on being OK. The editing is average and the dialogues standard. The quality of the movie suffers from sub standard production values and it shows on screen. Direction for a debutant is quite decent though he could have worked on the screenplay a lot more to avoid taking liberties with the viewer.

54321 at the most is an “OK” effort from a debutant team.
