12-12-50 MOVIE REVIEW

As the title suggests this movie is an unbashed tribute to the “Superstar” of Kollywood, “Rajinikanth”. Kabali Selvaah takes up the mantle of producing it as well as directing this venture.

Though the film begins with accolades to the demi god of Tamil cinema it takes an interesting turn with the story of 4 friends out to impress their god father who happens to be a Rajini fan. What they do to impress him forms the crux of the story with a good dose of “Kamal humour” thrown in the form of “Thambi Ramaiah”. It is this portion that carries the film with its slapstick comedy.

Unfortunately the portion after Selvaah’s release and the commotion after drag the film down.
Thambi Ramaiah ironically is the hero of the film where he comes in 9 different avatars of Kamalhassan. Kabali Selvah is quite agile for his age and does a decent job. The four friends in the form of Ramesh, Adhavan, Ajay and Prasad are comical when together.

The limited budget is evident despite the presence of a Rolls Royce in the movie and hence the technical department have worked in a shoe string budget. Camera by Vishnu is average; Music by Tapas Nayak is quite decent. Editing should have been better while dialogues are OK. Direction is standard.

12-12-1950 despite low expectations turns out to be an average fare with some fine moments for Rajini fans.
