The French Loaf celebrated Daan Utsav with India’s longest Photo Cake in Chennai

The contribution of women in cinema was creatively honoured

For the seventh consecutive year, The French Loaf, India’s largest bakery and confectionary chain has once again made a mark, by creating the Longest Photo Cake in the country at Phoenix Mall as part of Daan Utsav. This innovative event has always a successful attempt to support various Chennai based NGOs.

The occasion was graced by Mr. M. Mahadevan Chairman & Managing Director, Oriental Cuisines Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Reynold Fernandes – CEO, Oriental Cuisines Pvt. Ltd. Special guests of the event will be actress Ms. Suhasini Maniratnam, and other well known personalities.

Mr. Reynold Fernandes, CEO Oriental Cuisines said, “Speaking on the occasion, “We are thoroughly delighted to be associated with this grand celebration by paying a deserving tribute to the Women of Cinema. With The French Loaf’s renowned speciality in baking photo cakes, and our chefs have been working tirelessly to ink the unique pictures from cinema on the gigantic cake. However, what truly makes us delighted is that, the proceeds of this initiative will support various NGO’s across the city.”

Chef Boopesh, Head Chef at The French Loaf and Le Chocolatier said, “To bake this enormous cake, a total of 560 kgs of chocolate mix, 150kgs of fresh cream, 352 kgs of dark chocolate, 100 kgs of white chocolate, 100 kgs of cold glaze gel and 1000 sugar sheets were used. We are extremely happy with the response from the people of Chennai and their spirit in joy of giving.”

The one of its kind eggless photo cake weighed 1000 kilograms, spread across 100 metres, featuring 1000 photographs of women who contributed to cinema. Spearheaded by Chef Boopesh, Head Chef at The French Loaf, a team of 14 chefs from The French Loaf engaged in the baking and assembling process to create the gigantic cake.

The proceeds of the sales from the photo cake will be handed over to ‘Tanker Foundation, Jeevan Steam cell Foundation, Naam Foundation based out in Chennai to help the underprivileged. These social NGO’s deals in providing support and raise their voices for the various social issues in the society.
